Sending money
Send money to a friend by phone or X handle — like Venmo, but private.
Beyond gift credit (which someone spends on your tab), you can send money someone keeps — to a phone number or an X handle. It's like Venmo, minus the app and the trace.
This is different from gift credit and sub‑account allowances, which let someone spend your balance. A send moves money out to the recipient's own account to keep.
Send to a phone number
"send $20 to (415) 555‑0142"
The money is held from your balance and the ghost hands you a link to share. Your friend claims it by texting SpendGhost from their own number — that's what proves it's theirs, so a forwarded link is useless to anyone else. If they've received from you before, it lands in their balance instantly, no link needed.
Send to an X handle
Once your X account is connected, you can gift anyone on X:
"gift $10 to @alice on X"
The ghost confirms the account (it reads back the display name so you're sure it's the right @alice), then holds the money and gives you a claim link to DM them on X. They claim by signing in with X — only that exact account can, so a leaked link is inert.
Every gift you send on X automatically counts as a referral — if they go on to buy something, you get the referrer reward.
Send straight from a tweet
You can also start a send with a public post:
"@spendghost send @bob $5"
The ghost never moves money from the tweet itself. It texts you to confirm first — you always approve the exact person and amount on your own device before anything moves. Only works from an X account that's linked to your SpendGhost.
The limits
- Up to $2,000 per send, $5,000 per day.
- Minimum $1.
- If a claim link is never used, the money comes back to you after 14 days — nothing is ever stuck.
If they already have a SpendGhost account, the money lands in their balance instantly — no link to share. The link only appears for someone who's new to SpendGhost.
You can see everything you've sent — and whether it's been claimed — in your dashboard, or just ask the ghost.
